tHE MAIN RIVER

The main river comprises seven named pools upstream of the falls, which consist of a series of glides and fast-flowing waters.

The Ballisodare Water System is suitable, especially for fly fishing, which some people resort to worm fishing on occasions.

Above the bridge in Ballisodare is a more tranquil section of the river where fly fishing provides the best opportunity to hook a salmon.

Angling on the River is permitted between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Strict limitations apply to the 2024 season, and a catch-and-release policy is in place for visiting anglers.

The use of shrimp or prawns is prohibited on the River throughout the season.

The use of artificial worms is prohibited on both the River and at the Falls.
