Our Mission

The Ballisodare Fishing Club Board is extremely conscious and concerned about the major decline in salmon numbers returning to our river system over the past decade. In response the Board's mission is to maximise the number of Atlantic salmon smolts reaching the sea from our river system. Through our strategy plan, we aim to improve the environmental conditions, necessary for enhanced reproduction.

River Section - Temporary Closure

The river section from the Town Bridge to the Falls will be closed to fishing if the level on the gauge at the OPW site (Link on our Website) at Ballisodare drops to 0.35. Any height above this level will ensure fishing will be open in this small section of the river.

This closure won’t apply to fishing upstream of the Town Bridge or to fishing at the Falls.

The 2024 season has got off to a good start.

Good numbers of spring fish have been through our system, and the grilse run is now underway in earnest. The numbers are very heartening, and we encourage members and visitors to take advantage of this good run of summer salmon. Visitors may book on this website or by contacting the fishery office.
