We’re pleased to share that Angling Ireland has published a new update on the 2025 salmon season here at Ballisodare. The report, titled “Ballisodare seeing grilse caught every day,” highlights the steady activity and consistent catches we’re experiencing on the river this season.

According to the article, anglers at Ballisodare have been enjoying excellent sport throughout June, with grilse landed on a daily basis. The report praises both the quality of the fishing and the care shown by our members in safely returning wild fish where required.

This kind of national exposure is always welcome—not only does it reflect positively on the productive waters of the Ballisodare River, but it also underscores the commitment of our club to sustainable angling practices and responsible fisheries management.

Protecting Our Waters: Habitat and Water Quality Matters

As part of our long-term conservation efforts, Ballisodare Fishing Club remains deeply committed to improving river habitat and maintaining excellent water quality. In 2025, the club initiated a new phase in our environmental stewardship strategy with the deployment of electronic sondes in key areas of the river.

These high-tech sensors allow us to:

  • 📊 Continuously monitor water quality conditions

  • 🌱 Track environmental changes that affect salmon migration and spawning

  • 💧 Support science-driven decisions for habitat restoration and conservation

Our goal is not only to support strong salmon runs today but to safeguard the river’s health for future generations of anglers and wildlife alike.
